everyone thought it was great nothing to put away, didn't even taste it myself. my stars were very tiny, maybe I can look for a little bigger. I had the problem with the frosting too, anything that could go wrong for me that day did, I kinda had to smoosh it together and hurry up and frost it to put it back in the fridge really quick LOL
I will get this right eventually 8]

Unfortunately I am a perfectionist when it comes to my cakes. I was a little upset that it was so hot out that it was melting as I was frosting the cake. It's not my best work by far.....everyone still enjoyed it.

Colleen....the frosting IS the white. My star sprinkles worked out just fine...everybody love the effect & they did not melt. This is the frosting I used: Dianne's Bakery Frosting I got it with only making it once.

It is white frosting for the white stripes, but don't waste your time with the sprinkles, because they melt and you never see them. and I would suggest to bake every layer instead of cutting because they came out really sloppy for me , and you need to use a really thick frosting to even notice the white stripes. I am renaming this in my files as nightmare from hell cake. very cute but a lot of practice runs I'm sure, there is no way you will ever accomplish this in the first try

Did you frost each of the 8 red layers? to get the white stripes? or is that just white cake?

Kimmi, all the other pictures were about the step by step in preparing and baking the layers. If you have a picture of the finish cake where you can really see the white stars in the blue layer, I would really appreciate if you can post it or email it to me. Thank you!

The stars are not in this one. Please look at the other pics for the stars.

REALLY CUTE !!!
I don't know if it would help but I had a problem before I don't remember if it was nuts or raisins but they would rise or sink to the bottom and I was told to try coating them with flour first and it would help to distribute them better

It is not in this photo, but working on it.

Beautiful cake!!! I am curious to know about the white sprinkles why add them to the blue cake when you cannot notice them? Is it because it is not visible in the photo but it is visible in person?
